Saint-Hilaire Easter Trek: Fontaines Tradition

Saint-Hilaire Tower outside Fontaines, France

Saint-Hilaire Tower outside Fontaines, France

Saint Hilaire tower was built in 1862 atop the Saint Hilaire hill outside Fontaines village. At the top of  this beautiful building is a statue of the Virgin Mary. The bell has a special property: Legend has it that every girl from Easter Monday to ring the bell 3 times will marry that year. Locals told us if a woman rings the bell twice, she will have twins that year. Be careful how you pull the rope.
